Why F-150 owners upgrade to SYNC 3
The truck is great. The screen is the part that aged.
The backup camera is tiny
On the 4.2" SYNC 1 display the camera view is small enough that many owners never use it. On an 8" screen you can see the hitch and line up a trailer alone.
No CarPlay, no Android Auto
SYNC 1 and MyFord Touch were built before CarPlay existed. Your phone's maps, music and messages stay on the phone instead of on the dash.
MyFord Touch is slow and dated
The 2013–2015 8" MyFord Touch (SYNC 2) was a resistive screen with long load times. SYNC 3 is capacitive, responds like a phone, and still gets Ford updates by USB or Wi-Fi.

SYNC 2 to SYNC 3 upgrade
- Pop the trim with the included tools and remove the factory screen and module
- Plug in the SYNC 3 module and 8" screen, the GPS antenna and the USB hub
- Start the truck. It is already programmed to your VIN
Moderate · 2–3 hours2013–2020 F-150 with 4.2" screen
4" to 8" SYNC 1 to SYNC 3 conversion
- Swap the radio bezel and brackets for the 8" bezel in the kit

Prefer written steps? Every model year has its own page in the Installation Manual. Not a do-it-yourself person? Any car audio shop can install it in an afternoon. Find an installer near you, or send us your ZIP code and we will recommend one.
What can go wrong, and how we cover you
We have shipped these kits since 2016. These are the things that actually come up, and what happens when they do.
Before you order
- "Will it fit my truck?"
- Send us your VIN and a photo of your current screen. We check the fit for free, before you pay. Every kit is then programmed to that VIN.
- "Which kit do I need?"
- It depends on the screen in the truck today, not only on the model year. The screen guide under "Pick your kit" below sorts it out in ten seconds. Pick the wrong one? Tell us before it ships and we switch it.
- "How long until it arrives?"
- In-stock kits are programmed to your VIN and shipped from our warehouses by DHL or FedEx, free in the US, with tracking and signature on delivery. Typically 5–10 days.
After it arrives
- "The screen stays black after the install"
- Almost always a connector that is not fully seated or a harness plugged into the wrong port. Send us a photo or a short video of the wiring and we tell you what to check. If it is the part, we replace it under warranty.
- "Bluetooth calls or audio do not work after a 4" to 8" conversion"
- That is the CD-player radio module waiting for its Bluetooth setting. The OBD2 tool in the box does it in minutes and we guide you live if you want.
- "I cannot find the instructions"
- The install videos are on this page and on every product page, and the written step-by-step for each model year is in our Installation Manual: 2015 F-150 SYNC 2 to SYNC 3, 2016 F-150 4" to 8", and so on. Still stuck? Email us and a tech replies.
- "Something is missing or damaged in the box"
- Email us photos of what arrived and we ship the missing or replacement part.
- 1-year warranty on the kit
- Your Ford warranty stays intact
- 30-day returns

How it went for other F-150 owners
Their words, from reviews posted on this site. We only trimmed for length.
"I had the 4" screen and the backup camera was useless. Now I can hookup a trailer by myself no problem. I did mess up on FORScan once, but technical support was quick and gave all the right answers. Turned my 2016 XLT truck into a new one."
"Carefully reviewed the provided documents and watched videos online. Installation went smooth and worked perfectly. Got some programming help from William and now my Sync3 system is fully functional! Love this upgrade and never going back to Sync1."
"The installation is really easy, it's plug and play. Just watch YouTube videos a few times and as you do the conversion. I had to connect Forscan to get Bluetooth call to work. It was a little confusing, but once I understood the sequence of the procedure it was pretty cool."
"If you have that little 4" screen. Look no further for this product. Make your truck look super clean and snag this up. If you're not a handy man, please let a audio shop [do it] for you. The instructions are plain and simple. Make sure you have a PC/Laptop on hand!"
"I have completed the install of this kit and everything went well. No problems on the install. There was some confusion on some of the install but it was easy to figure it out. It was truly plugged and play."
"Worked amazing, company sent everything working perfectly fine and every single thing even tools to help you work alot faster! 100% recommended"
"Love this new radio. Install wasn't too difficult at all. Radio and CarPlay are up to date and work very smoothly."
"I'm happy with my new sync 3 upgrade. They made sure it was everything I expected. Good tech help when I needed it. Would recommend them."

Short answers
Does this void my Ford warranty?
No. Ford will not warranty our kit, but your truck's factory warranty is not voided. We cover the kit for one year.
Will I get Ford's future SYNC 3 updates?
Yes. It is a genuine Ford module, so updates still come by USB or Wi-Fi.
Can it add FordPass / SYNC Connect?
No, that needs a different kit. If your truck already has it, ask us before ordering.
I have manual climate. Will it become automatic?
No. Manual climate stays manual; the controls keep working as before.
Will my SiriusXM keep working?
Yes, if your truck already has it. Your subscription is not affected. Trucks without SiriusXM need a SiriusXM-capable radio module, sold separately.
Do I need to visit a dealer?
No. The module is programmed to your VIN before it ships. Some 4" to 8" conversions need a few minutes with the included OBD2 tool, which we guide you through.
Two ways to start
Know your screen? Pick the kit above and enter your VIN on the product page. Not sure? Send us the VIN and a photo of your dash and we will tell you exactly which kit fits, for free.
